I know it's a bit early in the year to say thank you to people, but really, these people, I do owe my sincere and heartfelt gratitude for all that you've done.

To Mr. Samuel Lim and Ms. Esther Cheong, thank you for being wonderful faculty heads of HP. There was a time in my life when I felt my high school life was dead, a withered rose, and that I had nothing left to live for. With HP, it gave me a chance to revitalise myself, and to show that I'm capable of doing stuff, to revitalise the life i've lost, the motivation I've nearly lost. With HP, it gave me more chances to see who I really am academically, socially and to develop my abilities in all facets of life. Thank you Mr. Lim and Ms. Cheong for having faith in me, I am truly grateful to have purpose in life in high school again.

My gratitude also goes out to Sam Kee. By putting me in Model Asean Summit Secretariat, it means that you trust me, and that feeling of being trusted is indeed valuable. By putting me in MAS OT, it means you've put your trust in a newbie when it comes to big events, or when it comes to organizing things. OKAY I'm here to talk to everybody.

Because I'm honestly super bored and super no-life.

SO here I am talking to everyone. (Like anyone reads this any more.)
But I shall treat this like a web log (hence, we blog), so here goes my entry for today (and probably this week)

I honestly think I will screw up all my Humanities. And my Physics. Physics was killer, and I'm sure most of G1, 2 and 3 will agree with me. Chinese test's close passage and compre were hard. and I'm gonna screw up. Oh well.

Bachelor for Valentines. O maybe, my homework is my valentines. As is David Waugh. And Marianne Chong. My goodness. And Simon Tay? G.N. Sanderson, Cowie, and my History file.

We'rein for a cool weekend.

On a brighter note, the JC Play "UNDER PRESSURE" was like HSM 3. Only cooler (: Chicks were hot, music was cute, ,mixed with oldies, and Eliseus was amazing! Plot was ridiculously lame and funny, and it was realllly cool. :D

Up to now, I still can't understand why people hate Madonna so much. But this is just my point of view below:

As much as she swears and "fucks" on her show, stimulates orgies and masturbation, Madonna is still the best entertainer there is. If you like Britney and Christina, merge them together and you get Madonna. Literally. She's a good sport, delivers her shows with professionalism, doing it her own way, so that you don't feel left out and you can feel her presence. She doesn't give a damn about others, she wants to enjoy herself, with her audience. She's changed and mellowed down a lot. From stimulating masturbation on her 1990 Tour to Reinventing herself with the Reinvention Tour in 2004? Remember that "We Won" clip? Or how about that one with Madge comparing McCain and Obama to other scenarios and people? She's got her own voice. She loves her Democrats, but she loves her world more. The world we live in. She wants global warming to stop. She's done documentaries, films, soundtracks. Everything. Like. EVERYTHING. She's the best dancer around and her voice has always been so consistent. She doesn't lipsync to her shows, unlike a certain Britney. except for one song: Vogue, cos of its complicated dance moves, but on her recent world tour, she sang it live. Her albums are always so conceptualised: American Life criticised the so called perfect American dream and lifestyle, Confessions on a Dance Floor was dance-y, literally. She's been there, done that. Movies, Grammys, criticism, poor sales. And still around. From Material Girl, to punky and funky, to the mellowed down Madonna, but still the bitch we know and love. Long Live The Queen of Pop: Madonna.

THE CIRCUS REVIEW

As you should have noticed by now, the blogskin's been changed to celebrate the release of "Circus". I'd probably change it again some two months later.

I shall first show you clips of Britney's performance on GMA.

Anyway, The Circus Review.

Womanizer: Womanizer, the first single of the album, reminded me of the Grammy award winning single, Toxic, and a song from Blackout, "Ooh Ooh Baby". The techno sound in the song with the constant buzzing and the constant "You" is catchy. But the sexiest and most attention grabbing part is when Spears repeats the word "Womanizer" 9 times in the chorus.

"Womanizer, Woman Womanizer, You're a Womanizer, Oh womanizer, oh you're a womanizer baby. You you you are, you you you are, womanizer, womanizer, womanizer, womanizer." (Woman =/= Womanizer :D )

The video was equally sexy, just like a "Toxic version 2" as Britney claimed in the documentary "Britney: For The Record". In the documentary, it is proven that Britney's vocals have not been mixed much in the final version of the song, which proves that the pop princess is on her way back. This girl anthem is cute, catchy, sexy and danceable too. It really resembles Toxic, A LOT. It's pretty retro-futuristic and with the snappy beats, it's like a huge up-and-down ride with the song as we get hooked to it. A great production by The Outsyders. The video? Sexy, seductive, and shows who's boss. Britney's bringing sexyback again, with this in-form performance.

Circus: The second single off the album is the title track, Circus. Britney has claimed this song is her favourite off her record, and no reason why it shouldn't be. The song explores Spears' relationship with the press, as she says, "all eyes on me in the center of the ring, just like a circus." Another "who's boss" and "who's best" track, as she claims "I'm like the ringleader, I call the shots. I'm like a firecracker, I make it hot." Pop Justice said "Circus goes with massive thudding electronic R&B production and there's a lot of stopping and starting, including a built-in MTV-style dance breakdown segment. It's pretty catchy too, like Womanizer, I'd predict it'd hit #1 on the charts once the physical sales of the single are released. She invites her fans into the song, literally with the lyrics, asking them not to just watch her, but "follow me, show me what you can do." and together, they "can make a dance floor."

Out From Under: We should be taking a break from the two dance-heavy tracks. And Britney brings out a ballad. The song talks about Spears' relationship with a guy, and how she's heartbroken, but she'd stay strong to have her "heart unbroken." She'd get it all figured out "when I'm out from under." Although the relationship didn't work out, Spears tries to keep strong in the song, and evident in her vocals. Britney's vocals were delivered well and sweetly, melodiously in this ballad.

Kill The Lights: Kill The Lights is a song produced by Danja, the same producer who produced Britney's big hit "Gimme More". (Billboard peak position: #3). It explores Spears' feelings to the paparazzi, and uses lights to symbol the paparazzi, or rather, the flashing lights of the camera. In "Britney: For The Record", Britney claims that they seem stressed that they need to get a good picture, and Britney fears them. She probably won't get Christmas prezzies from Madonna (despite getting a hug from her before her LA show with Madge at the Dodger Stadium) as Danja says that "our pop princess, now Queen of Pop, has a special announcement she'd like to make."

Were sang with such seductive and breathy vocals that it sounded nearly murderous (Kill!), which was brilliantly handled. Spears, throughout the song, claims that she will always have the upper hand over the paparazzi, and that they'd never have an advantage over her "I ain't perfect, but you ain't either", "You still listen, I don't have to." The tune produced brilliantly encapsulates the meaning of the title.

Shattered Glass: Catchy, talks about her belief that her ex would fail, and he'd have nothing in the end, since he already left her. She questions him, "Was it really worth it/Was she everything that you were looking for/feel like a man" and that they can't come back together, cos "all we had is broken like shattered glass"

"You're gonna see me in your dreams tonight/My face is gonna haunt you all the time/I promise you gonna want me back/when your world falls apart like shattered glass." It ends with the sound of the shattering of glass, after the chorus and the song. It has the haunty feeling that song with the tune kinda going into obsession.

If U Seek Amy: At the request of Ms. Spears, Max Martin, the producer of her debut hit single, Baby One More Time, returns. This song, If U Seek Amy, talks about some obsession with this character, "Amy". "oh baby baby" is sang, with some reminiscence of her first single "Baby One More Time". I believe "Amy" symbolises something that everyone is obsessed with. Not necessary a person, but a thing. Like fame and that "we'd do whatever you like", which sounds like servant-ship and idolising that person. Cute, catchy, dance club material.

Unusual You: Breathy vocals. It starts out with this action-film kinda music. Reminds me of Britney's "In The Zone"'s "Brave New Girl", a bit, at least. In the chorus, Spears sings that she expects this guy to have broken her heart, like many men before I think, but he hasn't, and that defines the "Unusual You". Spears appreciates how he makes her feel like herself.

Blur: Blur reminds me of Carrie Underwood's "Last Name". It seems like it's a dance equivalent to it. Where Britney seems to have been drugged at the club with the "f***king bright" lights, and that she can't remember anything from last night's escapade. This song's tune is catchy, but to me, it's just a filler.

Mmm Papi: Another punky like song. Which I have failed to make any sense of the lyrics. It starts off with that intriguing tune as if you're on Hawaii or on some beach listening to the radio. It seems like it's a song for her dad. Mm Papa love you. Hmm. Oh well.

Mannequin: A 40-sec clip was released earlier, with Britney dancing to it. This is kinda like a hard-hitting pop song, with the many "pop" sounds smudged. I don't understand the song. It's like a weird pop song about relationship. Pretty punky. Only one that no matter how hard I try, I don't understand. I'm gonna make a guess: she seems to think about this guy who seems like a sugar daddy but she only wants his riches and he feels super lonely, but she sings that "my face like a mannequin". Or smth that the guy can't impress her no matter with his riches. And she just does what she likes. It's like two very polar verses. I dunno.

Lace and Leather: Britney brings the focus back to her "circus" theme, with this lace and leather song. Or at least that's what it seems. It talks about essentially a girl and a boy. Erotic theme. End of story.

My Baby: Britney says in Britney: FTR, that the two things that kept her going was her music and her boys. So this song was dedicated to her boys. Very sweet song! Yay Britney's boys Jayden and Sean!

Normal Edition Bonus Track
Radar: It sounds different from the Blackout version. We could hear more of Britney's vocals and it sounds lower, deeper, sexier. The tune has changed too. But this song's not bad anyway. It was supposed to be the 4th single off Blackout, before Britney went back recording "Circus".

Rating: 4.5 Stars
Britney's best effort to date, in my opinion. Very personal, but short of perfection, because the songs seem to talk too much about relationships. A bit too much for my liking. Britney however, is back with her vocals (recovering!) and sexual instincts. This dance album is "Circus"y, and probably just Blackout taken one step further. It'd probably be, Blackout and Circus, a link from In The Zone to her next image. Which God knows what it'd be.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRITNEY SPEARS! (:

Britney Spears turns 27! And December 2 is also the release date of her new album, her sixth studio album, Circus! As Spears says the word "Circus" can be interpreted and delivered in many ways, and the way I'm seeing it that it's exciting and it'd bring back the real Britney Spears. And I was impressed by Miley Cyrus' performance on Dancing With the Stars Finale. The set was black/white, so were the costumes, and Miley did her song like a diva. Not the best vocalist around, but she managed to deliver "Don't You" in her song "Fly On The Wall" with complete devotion and emotion. The performance was awesome, with Miley at her seductive, sexy and brilliant best.

And of course, who CAN forget Christina Aguilera, and her mindblowing Medley at the American Music Awards?

Radar - Watch Out

The first song to appear on more than one Britney album. (Listed on Blackout, bonus track on Circus.) It was very successful for a non-single, the most popular for Spears.

The song was to be released as the fourth single from Blackout, and a music video was planned, however, Jive Records cancelled its release on June 11, 2008 as Spears had begun to work on new material. Although the release was cancelled, it was included in playlists for Australian, New Zealand, Irish and British radio stations. The song began to prove popular in their request shows and led to heavy airplay rotation.

The song has become one of the most successful non-single tracks of Spears' career, reaching number fifty-seven in Australia and claiming Top 40 chart positions in Sweden, New Zealand and Ireland. The song peaked at #68 on the Billboard Pop 100.

MTV had to say of this pretty successful non-single song:

... an electro/Eurodisco approach, but keeps Spears' vocals more in the foreground. Instead of emulating a video game, she's accompanied sparingly by sonar pulses and distorted synths to keep the sound dangerous, because she's on the prowl. 'I got my eye on you.' she speaks at one point. 'And I can't let you get away.'

I'm talking about this because I myself like this song a lot. It's vocoder-ed, but it's catchy and I like the high-pitched. The way Spears says the lyrics, makes me feel like she's prowling about, and ready to hit the guy, as if he's on her Radar.

‘CIRCUS’
This is the title track. This means the song’s called ‘Circus’, and it’s from the album ‘Circus’. “I run a tight ship,” Britney announces, “so beware - I’m like the ringleader, I call the shots, I’m like a firecracker I make it hot, now put a show”. What does this mean? Well, she is a ringleader on a ship - we presume this is something to do with a special circus on a cruise liner of some sort. Basically Britney is comparing herself to lots of things at the same time. Your English teacher will tell you this is a silly thing to do - but Britney is allowed to do it, because she is Britney. The track comes with massive thudding electronic R&B production and there’s a lot of stopping and starting, including a a built-in MTV-style dance breakdown segment. The chorus lyric is “all eyes on me in the centre of the ring just like a circus” but the best bit’s the bridge, with its “I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins, spotlight on me and I’m ready to break, I’m like a performer with this world as a stage” bit. There’s all sorts of other stuff about “don’t stand there watching me, following me, show me what you can do”. Bits of it are a lot like ‘Break The Ice’ from the last album, but with an extra layer of Big Production.

‘Blackout’ didn’t have any big ballads so here is one for ‘Circus’. It’s incredibly similar to this version…

…of the song but with more guitar (weedy guitar, not big proper guitar). The production’s a lot less sparse and a great deal more ‘Britney ballad’ (in the ‘I’m Not A Girl Not Yet A Woman’ tradition). Basically the most interesting thing about Britney’s version that you can’t hear on the Joanna Pacitti original is the finale, which ends with a great “from under, from under, from under” bit.

KILL THE LIGHTS
Well this one has definitely leaked so we’re bollocksed if we’re going to spend time trying to describe it when we can just post this YouTube.

The fact that this has been on YouTube for two days already without Sony pulling it via a copyright claim suggests that Sony leaked the song themselves, but it might just be that everyone at Sony is busy doing something else, like watering the plants or eating Haribo.

IF U SEEK AMY
This is the one people are excited about because the words “if you seek Amy” sound like “F-U-C-K me”. After a “la la la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la” intro the song sort of throws itself into a ridiculous faux-lesbo ‘romp’ in which Britney looks for girl called Amy in a club (”oh baby baby have you seen Amy tonight, is she in the bathroom?”), can’t find her while the club’s closing, bangs on about “love me hate me, say what you want about me but all the boys and all the girls are ready to f-u-c-k me” and then goes bonkers over a lot over a thunderous Timbaland vs Scooter production job. There are some “ha ha he he ho ho ho” bits, a great whooshing noise into the final chorus and an overriding sense that this might be one of Britney’s most ridiculous recordings to date.

‘VERDICT’: It’s ‘Blackout 2.0′ - this is good news, ‘Blackout’ was a phenomenal album - but seems to include a lot of posturing and also seems to be quite gimmicky, which hopefully won’t extend across the entire album. The inclusion of a song like ‘Out From Under’ suggests that this album, as a whole, might be a bridge between ‘In The Zone’ and ‘Blackout’, or at least a bridge between ‘Blackout’ and a next album more along the ‘In The Zone’ lines. That didn’t make any sense at all, did it. Anyway if these are the very best songs on the album we’re probably heading for a 7/10 sort of affair but it’s hard to second guess a Britney album so what it will end up like is anybody’s guess.

In other Britney news, Womanizer debuted at #4 on UK charts, only diva to beat her was Beyonce (#2). Quite good, considering Womanizer is only for digital download for now. Justin niaos Britney Spears cos he didn't see her at Madonna's concert (lame Justin.) Britney's nominated for People Choice Award, and Digital Spy UK reviews Brit's album.

Circus is essentially a sequel to last year’s Blackout album - it has the same fierce electro sound, but Britney sounds more confident and there’s less reliance on the vocoder.

CIRCUS:

The title track is a rampaging monster of a song whose chorus kicks off with a Max Martin-style thump. “I’m the ringleader, I call the shots, I’m a firecracker, I like it hot,” Britney sings on the verses. It’s been confirmed as the next single and the video’s already been shot.

OUT FROM UNDER:

Circus also has something Blackout didn’t - a proper, teary-eyed ballad. It’s called ‘Out From Under’ and it’s really quite lovely.

Britney’s introduced as “our very own pop princess, now Queen of Pop” on ‘Kill The Lights’. That’s her off Madonna’s Christmas card list then…

The song itself is almost as knowing as Blackout’s ‘Piece Of Me’, with Britney taking the paparazzi to task. “You don’t like me, I don’t like you,” she tells them. “Only difference is you still listen, I don’t have to.”

If U Seek Amy:

‘If U Seek Amy’, on which Britney actually reunites with Max Martin, is 50% glam, 50% rave. The title has nothing to do with a certain Miss Winehouse and makes more sense if you say it quickly… just don’t do so in polite company.

Something Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears must have learned in the Mickey Mouse Club: compassion.

“I don’t pass any judgment on what she does,” Aguilera tells Britain’s Daily Mail. “I always wish her all the best.”

A Decade Of Hits: Keeps Gettin' Better - The YJ Review

Now on to the review.

Cover (below). Apparently, the photograher who did this, was the same photographer who did the Blackout cover, and that photographer kinda is poor and lousy, cos both album covers look horribly (and the new songs on both seem to be vocoder-ed, just what I THINK).

Music:
I'm not gonna comment on her past singles (from album "Christina Aguilera" to "Back To Basics"), because it's kinda commented on already. The songs are organised in the order in which the albums are released, so it makes the list very smooth. What I want to talk about are the 4 songs (2 new, 2 re-made).

Keeps Gettin' Better:
Not a very daring adventure by Christina Aguilera. The video is poor (see earlier posts), but it does, blatantly show that Christina's ADOH: KGB is moving into the techno direction, another variation from her teeny bopper, dirrty and Baby Jane look. The song is dance-y too, and really really cute, as Christina thanks her fans, as she "Keeps Gettin' Better". She plays with a sexy super hero kind of tone, but with different personas evident in the song.

Dynamite:
Another "play-safe" adventure by Christina Aguilera, the lyrics seem to have some hint of her "Back To Basics" album, with words that seem pretty 20s, 30s. Dynamite is pretty high-pitched, and raises more doubts in me over Christina's ability to sing nowadays. (Think 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and her alleged lipsynched performance.) Dynamite's lyrics though makes A LOT OF SENSE. :D

You Are What You Are (Beautiful):
Very nice song, catchy even tough it's techno. Repeats the first stanza twice, as it is pretty important and motivating. Good remix.

Genie 2.0:
We heard a bit of it at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. And it is pretty dancing and sexy, the Christina of he future maybe?

Verdict: 3.5 stars. The new songs aren't much of an adventure, but the remakes of her 2 biggest hits are catchy, dancy, sexy and wonderful.

DRAMA CAMP END/CLASS OUTING, AND IT KEEPS GETTIN' BETTER

Drama Camp ended!
And of course, I won best actor. along with Suhas. :D Yay us! Our prize? A story book for kiddies. Suhas got "Elf and the Shoemaker", i got "Learn To Read: I Go To School."

And we beat Greg's group in the end. Yay us even more. Downstage Right, I came up with the group name. Strahan and I with the cheer, and Strahan with the story, with the rest playing the roles. :D

Day 1: Auditions, Tour Drama Center
Day 2: Core Group Names, Cheer, Mascot. ours rocks the most. Others were "Has", "Merchants of Pork", "Monotonous", "Improvisers" and "yImba Drama Cyclorama". Then the games. We screwed up first one (human knots), 2nd in 2nd one (red sea), and 3rd game kena ownded by time constraints. Story telling.
Day 3: Slack/Preparation/Lunch Time + The Prestige (OWNAGE MOVIE, SCARY, MYSTICAL AND WONDERFUL PLOT! :D) + Competition (Downstage Right owned Cheer and Story Telling. :D) Then yay dinner. Mine was Grilled Chicken. Pretty tasty. Cream of Mushroom was good, Dessert (Tiramisu/Rum Chocolate Cake) Also had fries and Coke and a big of Lasagne (sp?).

TODAY WAS CLASS OUTING.
I WANTED TO WATCH HSM3. RAWR. I'm gonna wait for the DVD.
But we ended up watching Madagascar
I was there early (8.40am, to be exact). Second person to arrive was Kerry (9.20pm). So I went to Starbucks and tried their new product: Toffee Nut Latte. Really sweet and satisfying, goes well with newspapers (reading it, not EATING it.)
I walked around the place, looking at what there is there. Then everyone came, including Andre with the CMC present for me, a TCC Cake! :D So after movie (I preferred Madagascar 1), I went to Gramophone and got Christina Aguilera's greatest hits album (Keeps Gettin' Better, review coming up later). Wanted to go LAN, but in the end went market eat with Qi Yuan, then go home play XBOX/PSP. yay.

Drama Camp Day 2 today, so yesterday was Day 1.

Day 1 Audition for SYF Roles.
So we had to do these.
1) Perform Monologue
2) Improv. from Ms. Ross
3) Improv. More character

Other than that, it was pretty much slack. We slacked through the day. Before that Hubert gave us intro to Drama Center and advice from a senior's POV. Then warmups and games then lunch and audition then home. I was first. RAWR. Screwed up Part 3. part 2 for me was to act as the main character as if someone betrayed smth abt him in class. Cos this main character likes to hide dusters and hide chalks and extension cords, so my impromptu was to react if someone wrote on the white board "MICHAEL WONG HIDES LOADS OF STUFF." and how i react lorh. Pretty "nice, YJ, nice."

Day 2 was more active. We thought of core group names and core group cheers and stuff. After that, we played teambuilding games like "Me Too", "Human Knots" and "Crossing the Red Sea". We didn't manage to play the last game, cos of time constraints. But it sounded pretty cool all the same. Then we went for story telling workshop. It was really enriching for me, as you know, folk tales were great to understand, and it could be CIP activities or smth. The trainer was Mrs. Rosemarie, and she was pretty entertaining and very patient. Pretty cool, to have learnt the basics of storytelling! Yay!

Britney appears on video while Madonna sings, but in the Dodger Stadium last night, Madonna's concert (started 3 hours late at 10pm instead of 7pm) was packed with stars: J-Lo, Britney, Kate Moss etc. Obama was even rumoured to be there, heh.

Britney Spears didn’t even have to show up to come back in Liverpool.

The again-viable pop star was named Act of 2008 in absentia at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards, which were handed out Thursday in the Beatles’ hometown.

Fittingly so, considering Paul McCartney was on hand to collect his Ultimate Legend award from a reverent Bono. McCartney thanked his “mum and dad,” the people of Liverpool, his former bandmates and Americans, “for voting in Senator Obama.”

Spears also snagged a trophy for Album of the Year for Blackout, making her and 30 Seconds to Mars (Rock Out and Video Star) the most winning artists of the night.

News that the “Womanizer” songstress is headed to Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, where she and Justin Timberlake are supposed to reunite onstage with Madonna, whose Sticky & Sweet tour touched down in SoCal Tuesday.

Other big winners included girl-kisser and the evening’s host Katy Perry, who was named Best New Act and sported a dress emblazoned with Barack Obama’s face; Artists’ Choice Lil Wayne; Best Act Ever Rick Astley; and Pink’s “So What,” which was named Most Addictive Track.

Also sharing the political love was 30 Seconds frontman Jared Leto, who sported an Obama T-shirt and urged the crowd at Echo Arena to chant the U.S. president-elect’s name.

As Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake get ready to take the stage with Madonna on Thursday night in LA, Access Hollywood can reveal the songs the superstars will perform!

A source close to Madonna’s tour tells Access that Britney will perform on stage to the song “Human Nature” tonight at Dodger Stadium — Madonna’s latest stop on her “Sticky & Sweet” tour.

And no real surprise here — Justin will perform to “4 Minutes,” the song which he duets with Madonna for on her “Hard Candy” album.

It’s not known yet whether or not the former couple will appear on stage together at any point.

As Access reported in July, Britney pre-taped a video segment for Madonna’s tour, which has been used up until now, for the “Human Nature” moment of the tour.

Madonna’s LA stop suffered a setback earlier today, because some lights and equipment were unable to be assembled. But according to her publicist, Madonna says: “Even though my stage roof was damaged and some lights and effects aren’t working, I want to do the show anyway because I don’t want to disappoint my fans.”

Below is my response to Dr. Hon's EMB Message:

To me I believe, John McCain is a true American hero, because simply,
he loves his nation, and he is willing to serve his country, be it in the White House, or in war (as he did in the Vietnam war.) When he refused to let leak any military secrets when caught, with his life even possibly at stake, he did not betray his country, and showed what patriotism really is. In his words, "He'd rather lose an election than lose a war.", it shows that he is a fighter, and doesn't like losing. That’s the spirit really, of a great American hero, and he will always deserve my respect. Though he did lose against Senator Obama, John McCain will always be remembered for fighting so hard. He was running a race against not only Senator Obama and "change", but possibly against President Bush and his policies, and even Governor Sarah Palin. These gaffes or decisions, or even fate, could have pulled him down, along with his age at 72. CNN Demographics showed that race was not a huge factor as compared to age. But the way he fought on, commands everyone to respect him, be it whether they supported Hillary, Barack or John. And that quote, “The Mac is back!”, shows, quite adequately, how he’d never give up. His “maverick” spirit shows he’s not willing to conform to policies, and is also a catalyst for change, but what brought him down was President Bush’s approval ratings and the hatred of Republican policies amongst Americans. But he knew America needed change, just like Barack did, and that, was always a tough race to fight for him.

The way he conceded defeat was gracious and deserves my respect. And he still, up to this day, is a servant for his country. 50 years of fighting for this nation, and not giving up. His experience as a 5-term senator for Arizona would have equipped him with the knowledge and expertise needed to be President. As the crowd booed Obama, John McCain handled that situation well, and he will never stop giving whatever he’s got for America. As he said, “Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history,” he’s definitely not a quitter, and not one who surrenders easily. When his campaign almost collapsed earlier in the year, he fought on. When polls were against him, he fought on. And this kind of perseverance really deserves our recognition. It was always difficult. Even with the “scars to prove it.” He would have been a good president in his own way, definitely. His dedication to the cause of making history with America, his dedication to the race, his dedication to his country, I will remember. A common America is needed right now, a together-ed America, to work with the world to solve the crises our world faces, and will face. Even if the Mac wasn't back as McCain wanted himself to be, I'm pretty sure John McCain would do anything, as proven in his concession speech, to help Barack and to help the country he loves. He admitted that the campaign had failed, and that he had lost to Senator Obama, simply by saying, “though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours", and not many people can say that we have failed because of themselves. Not many people can be as modest as John McCain was. Not many people could have admitted to their failure even. This act is really an act of greatness in my view. I may not have agreed with John McCain on certain policies, but he is definitely a great man I respect. To John McCain, a true American hero, I salute you.

News of the World is reporting that X Factor judge Simon Cowell has nothing but nice things to say about Brit in the wake of her X Factor performance this month. The article reports the always candid Simon as saying: “I’m really excited about it, because she’s got her act together now and the new record’s terrific. She’s come back from a very dark place and is a great artist”.

Nothing we don’t already know but impressive when you think about how difficult it can be to impress Simon, right!?

The rejuvenated Princess of Pop channels the famous flicks of Farrah Fawcett on the cover, as she strikes a girlish pose, wearing a peach Rodarte Spring 2008 dress.

I will always respect John McCain for his graciousness in defeat. And yes, I am really proud to call him a "true American", because he has dedicated his life to fighting for the country he loves, and the country he calls home. He is still, a servant for this country, and is dedicated to the cause every single day, as, in his words, "has scars to prove it".

Let's give it to him. It was never an easy race to run for ANY Republican, given how U.S. (and the world) is in turmoil. John McCain will be always, a patriotic American hero.

But sadly, America wants change. We ask ourselves how, 8 years ago, America elected George W. Bush into the White House, and how, now, that has changed, as Barack Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States of America.

The voting made our stand pretty obvious: we want change, and yes we can. 4 years ago, many of the states were ruby red, and J. Kerry was beaten by President Bush. Now, Obama's turned these ruby red states, or at least some of them, into blue states, the most significant of them being Ohio, which was crucial for John McCain to win, should he want to be president. (No Republican President went into the White House w/o Ohio.) Pennsylvania went to Obama too. And when it struck 12pm (Singapore Time), California followed in the path of New York. Obama was President.

So change is on its way. I've attached a few articles I read and liked, so enjoy.

PHOENIX, Arizona (CNN) -- Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain conceded the presidential race before a crowd of supporters in Phoenix on Tuesday. He also congratulated Sen. Barack Obama. Here is a transcript:

Sen. John McCain concedes defeat in the presidential election to Barack Obama.

McCain: Thank you. Thank you, my friends. Thank you for coming here on this beautiful Arizona evening.

My friends, we have -- we have come to the end of a long journey. The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly.

To congratulate him on being elected the next president of the country that we both love.

In a contest as long and difficult as this campaign has been, his success alone commands my respect for his ability and perseverance. But that he managed to do so by inspiring the hopes of so many millions of Americans who had once wrongly believed that they had little at stake or little influence in the election of an American president is something I deeply admire and commend him for achieving.

This is an historic election, and I recognize the special significance it has for African-Americans and for the special pride that must be theirs tonight.

I've always believed that America offers opportunities to all who have the industry and will to seize it. Sen. Obama believes that, too.

But we both recognize that, though we have come a long way from the old injustices that once stained our nation's reputation and denied some Americans the full blessings of American citizenship, the memory of them still had the power to wound.

A century ago, President Theodore Roosevelt's invitation of Booker T. Washington to dine at the White House was taken as an outrage in many quarters.

America today is a world away from the cruel and frightful bigotry of that time. There is no better evidence of this than the election of an African-American to the presidency of the United States.

Let there be no reason now for any American to fail to cherish their citizenship in this, the greatest nation on Earth.

Sen. Obama has achieved a great thing for himself and for his country. I applaud him for it, and offer him my sincere sympathy that his beloved grandmother did not live to see this day. Though our faith assures us she is at rest in the presence of her creator and so very proud of the good man she helped raise.

Sen. Obama and I have had and argued our differences, and he has prevailed. No doubt many of those differences remain.

These are difficult times for our country. And I pledge to him tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face.

I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our good will and earnest effort to find ways to come together to find the necessary compromises to bridge our differences and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world, and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited.

Whatever our differences, we are fellow Americans. And please believe me when I say no association has ever meant more to me than that.

It is natural. It's natural, tonight, to feel some disappointment. But tomorrow, we must move beyond it and work together to get our country moving again.

We fought -- we fought as hard as we could. And though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours.

I am so deeply grateful to all of you for the great honor of your support and for all you have done for me. I wish the outcome had been different, my friends.

The road was a difficult one from the outset, but your support and friendship never wavered. I cannot adequately express how deeply indebted I am to you.

I'm especially grateful to my wife, Cindy, my children, my dear mother and all my family, and to the many old and dear friends who have stood by my side through the many ups and downs of this long campaign.

I have always been a fortunate man, and never more so for the love and encouragement you have given me.

You know, campaigns are often harder on a candidate's family than on the candidate, and that's been true in this campaign.

We can all look forward with great interest to her future service to Alaska, the Republican Party and our country.

To all my campaign comrades, from Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter, to every last volunteer who fought so hard and valiantly, month after month, in what at times seemed to be the most challenged campaign in modern times, thank you so much. A lost election will never mean more to me than the privilege of your faith and friendship.

I don't know -- I don't know what more we could have done to try to win this election. I'll leave that to others to determine. Every candidate makes mistakes, and I'm sure I made my share of them. But I won't spend a moment of the future regretting what might have been.

This campaign was and will remain the great honor of my life, and my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude for the experience and to the American people for giving me a fair hearing before deciding that Sen. Obama and my old friend Sen. Joe Biden should have the honor of leading us for the next four years.

I would not -- I would not be an American worthy of the name should I regret a fate that has allowed me the extraordinary privilege of serving this country for a half a century.

Today, I was a candidate for the highest office in the country I love so much. And tonight, I remain her servant. That is blessing enough for anyone, and I thank the people of Arizona for it.

Tonight -- tonight, more than any night, I hold in my heart nothing but love for this country and for all its citizens, whether they supported me or Sen. Obama -- whether they supported me or Sen. Obama.

I cried twice. Firstly, because John McCain was such a gracious loser, and to me, I respect him truly and fully. And when I heard this speech delivered this afternoon, I immediately knew that this true American hero was a gracious man, and if Obama didn't win, I knew McCain was still, indeed, a righteous person and I'd definitely respect him with all my heart. (Contrary to whatever mean things I've said about the McCain-Palin ticket.)

The second time I cried?

CHICAGO – A triumphant Barack Obama vowed to be a president for all America and asked for patience to address the nation's problems of war and finance that he called the greatest challenges of a lifetime.

The first black president-elect cast his election as a defining moment in the country's 232-year history and a rebuke to cynicism, fear and doubt.

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer," he said in his first public words after winning the election.

His victory speech was delivered before a multiracial crowd that city officials estimated at 125,000 in Grant Park, and possibly thousands more in the surrounding area. Many cried and nodded their heads while he spoke, surrounded by clear bulletproof screens on his left and right.

He appeared on stage with his wife, Michelle, and daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, poised to become the first family of color ever to occupy the White House. Every family member dressed in black and red, and Obama told his daughters during his speech that they would get the puppy he promised would come with a victory.

"Even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime — two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century," he said. "There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and, for us to lead, alliances to repair."

He was already suggesting a second term to accomplish his goals, saying he expected "setbacks and false starts."

"We may not get there in one year or even one term," he said. "But America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you — we as a people will get there."

To those who voted against him, he said, "I will be your president, too."

Obama, an Illinois senator born 47 years ago of a white American mother and a black African father, sprinkled his address with references to the civil rights struggle. He paid tribute to Ann Nixon Cooper, a 106-year-old daughter of slaves born at a time when women and blacks couldn't vote. She cast her ballot in Atlanta Tuesday, Obama said.

He quoted another president from Illinois, Abraham Lincoln, and although he didn't mention Martin Luther King Jr.'s name, he echoed King's statement that "we shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."

Obama invited "those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day."

The president-elect said he looks forward to working with Republican rival John McCain, who called him to concede as The Associated Press and television networks called the race at 11 p.m. EST. Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama thanked McCain for his graciousness and told him he had waged a tough race.

Gibbs quoted Obama as saying to McCain: "I need your help. You're a leader on so many important issues"

President Bush called Obama shortly after the Illinois senator hung up with McCain, and Vice President Dick Cheney called Obama running mate Joe Biden. Obama watched McCain's concession speech from his suite in a downtown hotel, where he had watched returns with Biden, his extended family and senior campaign staff.

A few blocks away, the crowd in Grant Park that included celebrities Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey erupted into cheers to see their chosen candidate break the White House color barrier. Audience members leapt into the air, waving American flags.

The size of the group, spread out toward the Chicago skyline a few blocks in the distance, reflected the eye-popping crowds that Obama drew throughout his campaign. Even the weather favored Obama — the temperature was around 60 degrees as he spoke, unusual for a November night in Chicago.

Obama began the day by casting his vote with his wife and daughters at his side. He unwound while waiting for returns by playing two hours of basketball with friends and staff, then eating a steak dinner at home with his immediate family and in-laws.

He made a final Election Day campaign stop in Indiana, one of several longtime Republican strongholds in the presidential race that he tried to win. It was a symbolic ending of a campaign for a candidate who first made his name with an address to the Democratic National Convention four years ago in which he decried efforts to "slice and dice our country into red states and blue states."

He repeated that sentiment in his victory speech. "We have never been a collection of red states and blue states. We are, and always will be, the United States of America," he said.

PARIS, (AFP) - - World leaders on Wednesday quickly hailed the triumph of Barack Obama in the US presidential election as the start of a new era but there were also calls for a new deal with the global superpower.

Celebrations erupted in capitals around the world. A national holiday was declared in Kenya -- where Obama's father was born -- to welcome the first black US president.

"Your brilliant victory rewards a tireless commitment to serve the American people. It also crowns an exceptional campaign whose inspiration and exaltation have proved to the entire world the vitality of American democracy," French President Nicolas Sarkozy said in a letter to Obama.

"By choosing you, the American people have chosen change, openness and optimism," Sarkozy added.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown praised Obama's "energising politics ... his progressive values and his vision for the future" as congratulations poured in before the final result was even announced in the race between Obama and Republican John McCain.

China's President Hu Jintao said in a written message: "In a new historical era, I look forward to... taking our bilateral relationship of constructive cooperation to a new level."

Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso pledged to work with the new US leader to strengthen relations. Mexican President Felipe Calderon congratulated Obama on his "triumph" and invited him to visit the United States' southern neighbour.

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said Obama's victory was a landmark for equality.

"Twenty-five years ago Martin Luther King had a dream of an America where men and women would be judged not on the colour of their skin but on the content of their character," Rudd told reporters. "Today what America has done is turn that dream into a reality."

But European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso called for the election to usher in a "new deal" between the United States and the rest of the world to tackle the global financial crisis and other troubles.

"This is a time for a renewed commitment between Europe and the United States of America," Barroso said in a statement. "We need to change the current crisis into a new opportunity. We need a new deal for a new world."

Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will quickly top the list of White House priorities but Obama's election would not lead to a quick US disengagement from Iraq, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said.

"We don't think there will be change in policy overnight. There won't be quick disengagement here. A great deal is at stake here," Zebari told AFP, adding that Baghdad was looking for a "successful partnership" with Obama.

Israeli-US relations have "a bright future," Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Ygal Palmor said. But Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas urged Obama to speed up efforts to reach an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.

"President Abbas congratulates US president-elect Barack Obama in his name and in the name of the Palestinian people and hopes he will speed up efforts to achieve peace, particularly since a resolution of the Palestinian problem and the Israeli-Arab conflict is key to world peace," said Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina.

Election parties were held in major capitals around the world bringing together expatriate Americans and people anxious over events in the United States.

Hundreds of villagers in Kogelo, Obama's Kenyan family home, erupted into song and dance. President Mwai Kibaki declared a national holiday on Thursday to mark Obama's victory.

Swinging branches and chairs in the air, men cheered and clapped while women shouted "Obama! Obama!" in the village where his grandmother lives and where his late Kenyan father was born.

Wild celebrations woke the sleepy village, people hugged each other as others ran aimlessly in the muddy streets after spending a chilly night glued to a giant screen watching results on US networks.

"Senator Obama is our new president. God has answered our prayer," said pastor Washington Obonyo.

"Because Obama has won, we will have a change in the whole world. And for that I will slaughter a cockrel to celebrate with my family," said Joseph Otieno, a jubilant Kogelo resident.

In the small Japanese town of Obama, hula dancers, ecstatic chanting and rock'n'roll greeted the election triumph.

Obama means "small shore" in Japanese and many in the small fishing town of 32,000 people chanted Obama's name and his slogan, "Yes, we can!".

So, today's drama was whacked.

We had a trainer called Ms Ros come in. She was pretty whacked and funny in a sense.

first thing we did was play a game (i think). She like went through the basis of acting. "To act is to react", and Acting is a discipline which consists of actions itself (if i rmbr correctly), voice and movement. So first game we played was that cat and mouse thing we played in Chinese Drama, before playing a game called "Space Invaders", where you prevent one guy from sitting down. The next game we played was Zip Zap Boing. When 6/7 of us were left, everyone else came shouting to distract us, so i IMPROVISED (:D) and declared the remainder of the people winners :D

After that we did some intros of each other, and Ros was being funny (and spas) at the same time, she's kinda funny, and you gotta meet her. She's like some kinda stand up comedian.

After lunch (we ate lemon chicken rice), we went back there and played more games, including mini-acting, and mini-movement practice. We also did vocal exercises and warmup and relaxation exercises. We then played a game called "24 HOURS", where we put ourselves in our own world and be a certain person, mimicking his actions for 24 Hours in his typical life. So i acted as a celebrity, and then later we had to tell evryone, i was last. And then bye bye we all go home. Then just had dinner, now playing PSP and typing this post. Tomorrow slackness day :D Class outing when btw?

it's official: december 2 release of circus, brit's 27th birthday

Britney Spears has released the album cover and the tracklist for her 6th studio album, "Circus", due on her 27th Birthday, December 2. Britney Spears would be performing some of these songs on her appearance on GMA on release date. Britney should also be hosting SNL on 22nd November (rumored), but is confirmed to be performing "Womanizer" on X-Factor on 29th November. The bonus track, "Radar", was taken from her previous effort, "Blackout", and is rumoured to be re-recorded. Said MTV of their review on "Blackout" about "Radar", its "an electro/Eurodisco approach, but keeps Spears' vocals more in the foreground. Instead of emulating a video game, she's accompanied sparingly by sonar pulses and distorted synths to keep the sound dangerous, because she's on the prowl. 'I got my eye on you.' she speaks at one point. 'And I can't let you get away.'" It is her first song to appear on more than one album. (other than her greatest hits)

Disappointing video

I am super disappointed, I have to say, with Christina's new video.

Although it does show, albeit forcefully, that she is moving into a more dancey-pop, a futuristic direction, contrary to her "Back To Basics" album, the video is kinda creepy. Christina attempts to direct a music video (in this video) as she introduces the many different personas and alter egos she's gone thru. The alter egos bring together her pop-tart look from he debut, dirty/sexy look from her sophomore, and her Baby Jane look from the third, and of course, her futuristic new sound together in this video, to commemorate 10 years of entertainment. Yet this mix and mash video, I would call it, seems highly mediocre, with not much excitement in it. All we see is Christina in the car by herself, in the editing room by herself, in the flowery places and outside the 20's pub by herself, and yup, in a catsuit and other outfits, again, by herself. Christina did not get to this fame BY herself, surely, this video requires more to really make an impact, Christina, if you want to really "keep getting better", then this video has definitely gotta be improved, or at least the other video from the greatest hits album.

The video seems blur (even the one uploaded to her official YouTube site, as seen from the URL above), and really, messy. The Christina we know isn't messy. The video's a bore, messy, blur, what more can I say? The villain doesn't appear at all, nor does the sexy, sour and sweet part of her. There is little dancing coupled with stale video clips put together, and it's probably worse than Britney's worst video. In a blatant attempt to copy Britney's new vid, Christina has failed, terribly and horribly. Even "Dirrty" had some dirrty dance moves, this futuristic video, though displays what technology could be in the future (with hands used for editing clips, mind you), doesn't show what Christina's sound really could be like, apart from the blue hair or the catsuit part. The angelic Christina probably was intriguing colour-wise, but to be frank, this video needs more than just that. The single was cute and fun, not her most daring, but at least passable and probably comparable to Britney's "Womanizer" or something that sounds futuristic. If Christina wants some tips, don't look for me, look for Joseph Kahn and Britney Spears. Both "Toxic" and "Womanizer" were fanciful, flashy and full of alter-egos, and definitely of course, some sense of futuristic-ness. In conclusion, this is a disappointing video for this really really hip and sultry song which bas got me moving everyday.

Thanks to 2008

2008 has been an amazing year.

It started all wrong for me (and Ms. Spears) when we both went ballistic.

But it recovered. And so did she. Britney won 3 MTV Video Music Awards for “Piece Of Me”, and I? Loads more new friends and strengthened friendship.

Britney Spears: One More Time

The pop princess has been around for 10 years. She’s wow-ed and stunned us with performances and songs, and with her acts in the public, but after 10 years, one more time please.

It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years since “…Baby One More Time” first hit the airwaves. It’s even harder to believe that that singer from Kentwood, Louisiana has become an international superstar and has become a papo favourite. It never was so long, or at least never seemed so long. She’s never been away: she’s blown us away, she’s shocked us. She’s entertained us, and she’s humoured us. And today, here on the YJBlog, we commemorate 10 years of the Pop Princess.

Britney Jean Spears was born in little Kentwood, Louisiana, to this date where her parents still live. She wasn’t supposed to become a singer. She dreamt, at the age of 3, to represent USA at the Olympics in Gym. But, she had an eye for singing: she sang at churches, at parties, and at balls. So at the tender age of 8, Britney auditioned for a role in the Mickey Mouse Club, but failed, as she was too young. At 10, she was knocked out sadly, of Star Search, but was recognized for her vocal powers, so at 14, Lynne Spears brought Britney to audition again, for the New Mickey Mouse Club. The high school belle Britney got the role, passing the auditions with flying colours in the three segments: acting, singing and dancing.

And so, she starred in the show where she met her first love: Justin Timberlake, and of course, her soon-to-be rival, Christina Aguilera. But sadly, the show was cancelled after just one season despite stunning performances from the youngsters, as Christina and Britney parted in tears.

So young Britney went with Mama Spears to Jive Records, as Larry Rudolph decided to groom this young star at the tender age of 16. She was off to Sweden to record her debut album with known producers like Max Martin. Everything was recorded, and Britney was just waiting for a hit to be produced for her to be propelled to superstardom. And it came in “…Baby One More Time”. Ironically it wasn’t written for her in mind, but Jamie Spears decided this would be the hit for his daughter.

How true Jamie Spears’ prediction was. It propelled Britney to superstardom immediately. 1999 brought her 15 awards for herself and her song itself. But Britney was determined to prove she wasn’t a one-hit wonder.

Back to Sweden she went to record her sophomore album, entitled “Oops… I Did It Again”, just as suggestive as her previous album. Her lead single, “Oops… I Did It Again” featured Britney in a red catsuit in the video, the first of her new sexual and sensual style. “Stronger”’s video, another single of her second album, portrayed Britney dancing with a chair and getting wet by the rain. She also flirted seductively with a model in her “Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know” video.

But what was more shocking was Ms. Spears’ performance at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Coming off her “Oops” world tour, Spears started off in a tuxedo performing her rendition of “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”, before taking off the hat, the tux, the shirt and the pants to reveal a skin-colour costume. It seemed that she was nude if not for the strategically placed diamonds. She then performed “Oops…” with the now famous butt-shake.

2001 was no different. “Britney”, her third album, was released, and again, it hit number 1 like her two previous efforts. Britney took some control over her writing, as seen by the song “Overprotected”. But the lead single took most controversy. “I’m A Slave 4 U” was Britney’s most risqué video ever, with breathy sounds heard in the single, and people cowing over her in a hot dirty sauna. The live performance at the VMAs was no better. Britney was in a green bra and some cloth over her lower half, but what was more shocking was the presence of live animals. She actually danced with an albino python, knowing that it could actually strangle and kill without even biting. Needless to say, Britney received huge criticism for her performance.

She then went on her world tour, the “Dream Within A Dream” world tour, with the second night in Las Vegas broadcast on HBO. The technical effects were awesome and stunning, with fireworks and screens all over to bring Britney to everyone in the audience. Obviously, it won an Emmy Award. She controversially ended the tour in Mexico City by walking off stage due to bad weather, before pointing the middle finger in London at the press. The fans shouted “fraud”; the press had turned against her.

So how would she do in 2002? More screw-ups, as termed by the press. A blunder by addressing Michael Jackson as “the artiste of the century” when the cake was actually to commemorate his birthday, and receiving a Razzie for worst performance in a movie, “Crossroads”. Britney then did the right thing probably, by taking a career break for six months.

But it was not to end there. In early 2002, Spears' four-year relationship with Timberlake ended. Spears was criticised for many things: not remaining a virgin despite claims she would until marriage, and her unfaithfulness. His 2002 song "Cry Me a River" and its music video, which featured an actress resembling Spears, caused speculation that Spears had been unfaithful; Timberlake, however, denied that his song was meant to portray her. The duo now are back on talking terms. Spears had a song on her new album called “Everytime” which seemed to shed some light on their relationship, that Spears truly loved him and would not have betrayed him. Diane Sawyer, in a Primetime Interview, pushed Britney too hard over her hard year: parents divorce, breakup with Justin, papo madness, and Britney cried on national TV.

Britney returned fresher, sexier with her fourth album, titled “In The Zone”, her most sexual offering to date. The lead single featured her idol, Madonna. “Me Against The Music” was again, filled with exciting and thrilling dance moves, with Madonna on it, it seemed like Britney WAS the next Madonna.

So they met again, this time at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, in commemoration of the 20th birthday of the VMAs. Asking The Queen of Pop Madonna and pop princess Britney to perform was only fitting: both are pop culture icons. So they were joined on stage by Christina Aguilera, another singing sensation. They performed Madonna’s 1984 hit “Like A Virgin”, rolling on the floor like Madonna did 20 years ago, and dressed in the same wedding gown like Madonna 20 years ago too.

Madonna the groom then came out from the wedding cake and danced with “his” two brides. But it all went crazy when Madonna and Britney locked lips. It seemed they even Frenched. The paparazzi went crazy, and that image was firmly etched into the minds. Had Britney lost control?

That question wasn’t answered yet. But her new image had shown: sex. Toxic’s video was filled with three Britney alter egos, as they flirted with different kind of men. Britney was only in G-string for one of the scenes too. It was evident that Britney’s cutesy-pie image had been replaced with a more mature one. Songs like “Breathe On Me”, and “Touch of My Hand” suggested sexual activity, as proven with her performances on her third World Tour, The Onyx Hotel Tour. Britney’s costumes were revealing, her moves provocative. But it all went wrong when she injured her knee while filming the video for “Outrageous”. The world tour was cancelled, Britney was set to take another career break.

Her madness wasn’t exactly ending there. In a crazy 55-hour Vegas wedding, Britney was rash and reckless as she married her childhood friend Jason Alexander, before annulling the marriage 55 hours later. The press went ballistic, and started criticizing the pop crooner.

But she then found her husband in Kevin Federline, a backup dancer. The duo got married and Britney was taking her second career break. She gave birth to her first son, Sean Preston by C-section, and also released her Greatest Hits album. The duo then starred in their own special: “Britney & Kevin: Chaotic”, which received very poor ratings.

In 2005, Britney released her first remix album, “B In The Mix: The Remixes”, which remixed all her biggest hits. It seemed Britney was slowly clawing back, but the answer was no, as she gave birth to her second child, as announced on Letterman. Her second child was born as Jayden James in late 2006. No one would have imagined that anything could go wrong with her: a happy family and an international pop icon.

But it did. She had a debacle of a year in 2006. She divorced Kevin Federline in November 2006, and from no underwear and partying with Paris Hilton in December 2006, to no hair in February ’07. Britney soon checked into rehab. Her aunt, one of her closest relatives, had died of ovarian cancer. She had lost one pillar of support, and the stress showed, as she attacked a reporter’s SUV with an umbrella. Throughout the year, Spears's behavior received heightened media attention. Spears left the rehabilitation center on March 20 according to her manager, who said she was released after "successfully completing their program." As the legal battle over the custody of their children continued, many members of her entourage have been summoned to testify about her parenting skills. There was no doubt about Britney’s motherly side: she loved her children, even if she was about to drop them or put them on her lap when she drove.

Spears decided to plot her comeback into entertainment. In May 2007, she produced a mini-tour for the House of Blues just after she left a rehabilitation facility under the name The M+M's; with six shows altogether, she sang live during some lines of her songs. Her fats showed from her pregnancy, but she was serious.

However, that seriousness wasn’t to be found anywhere in her 2007 MTV Video Music Awards performance of her then-new single, “Gimme More”. She looked restless, tired, fatigued and out of sorts. She was shuffled across the stage by her dances and her moves were totally lacklustre. Britney’s lipsynching even failed her, as it was dubbed the “worst to have graced any stage”. Britney’s come back had failed. It was worse in her private life.

In September 2007, the official findings in Spears's custody battle were announced by the court. She was ordered to undergo random drug and alcohol testings and to attend parenting counseling. Spears and Federline continued to share joint custody of their two children on a conditional basis. Britney then lost physical custody with her erratic behaviour become more common, as she was charged with hit-and-run charges and driving without license. She had even collapsed before while dancing to “I’m A Slave 4 U” at her own ball. Everyone was worried.

The release of Spears's fifth album, Blackout, was rescheduled to October 30, 2007 rather than November 13, 2007 due to online leaks. Blackout debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200., making Spears the only female music artist to have her first five albums go to number one and two. It was fairly well received by critics. As of June 2008, there have been 3.1 million digital downloads of the songs and remixes from the album in the United States. Rolling Stone gave the album 3.5 out of 5 stars. Allmusic also rated the album 3.5 out of 5 stars, calling Blackout "coherent and entertaining" and stating that "it holds together better than any of her other records".Blackout's lead single, "Gimme More" leaked on the internet on August 30. The song, which was Spears's first produced by Danja, peaked at number three on Billboard's Hot 100 on October 3, making it her most successful single in the U.S. since her debut, "...Baby One More Time”. Spears's highly-anticipated performance, though of "Gimme More" at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards was panned. The BBC stated that "her performance would go down in the history books as being one of the worst to grace the MTV Awards", and The Times noted that "Spears was out of synch as she lip-synched and at times just stopped singing altogether". Despite the criticism on her performance, the single has achieved worldwide success. The second single, "Piece of Me", was certified platinum in the US.

It got worse, her private life in the new year though. In January 2008, Britney was warded in UCLA. After not sleeping for 4 days, and refusing to return her sons back to Kevin, Britney was sent to UCLA for treatment. Her father was awarded conservatorship, which means he had control over her estate and her career decisions. The Spears family rallied behind their eldest daughter. But, was Britney ruined already, by her friend and “manager” Sam Lufti?

That was what Lynne Spears claimed in her book, “Through The Storm”, which discusses both girls Britney and Jamie Lynne. Lynne claims that Sam Lufti constantly forced Britney to do things she didn’t want to do, and threatened her. But Britney didn’t care. She knew she owed her dad her life; thanks to her dad, Britney Spears is back. Thanks to Jamie Spears, who took control of Britney’s life, the true beautiful and righteous Britney is back. Her madness will be documented, along wit her come back, in a 90-minute special 2 days before her birthday on MTV, called, “Britney: For The Record”.

Despite Britney being constantly in the papo spotlight, Britney’s a family girl: she wants to move back to Louisiana to be with her family. She loves her sister and her parents, and not forgetting her elder brother. Jamie Lynne and Britney are almost look-alikes and do-alikes. We could always see the sisterly side of Britney Spears. She has constantly been protective of her little sister: she didn’t want her sister to go down the same road as her. When Jamie Lynne was pregnant, Britney was there as her sister to help her. Jamie Lynne adored her sister, and looked up to her. Britney guided her sister through show biz. But she did have her mean side. When it was rumoured JLS was pregnant again, Britney reportedly screamed and freaked out, before scolding her, but she has been there to help her sister through tough and difficult times, from the announcement of pregnancy to delivery. And we could see Britney loves her children: she constantly picks them up from school, and even celebrated Halloween early with them. She also wore chains which were their initials (i.e. SP, JJ) around her neck, and she is determined to fight for custody for children. She has changed: she’s no longer the trainwreck we knew from 2 years ago. She’s even willing to quit smoking and do whatever it takes to be with her little children, by holding a big birthday bash for them at her estate.

Britney will always remain a pop icon: she opened the Britney Spears foundation to groom youngsters, and was recognised for her music acts by one of the schools in music this year. Wherever Britney goes, whatever Britney wears, the media knows, and the fans scream whenever she appears.

She’s changed: Britney Spears was no longer the, I’m sorry, fat ass and metal retard, from 1 year ago. As she thinks about her life and her mistakes by reflecting on the rhetorical question in her new documentary: “I’m a smart person but what the hell was I thinking about?!”, success now comes back in her way. She has finally succeeded at VMAs, after 16 failed attempts. She recently won 3 Moonmen for her video “Piece Of Me’.

And her newest video? Hot. “Womanizer”, the new single off her sixth studio album “Circus”, due 2 December 2008, her 27th birthday, has been #1 for 2 weeks in a row. The last time Britney was #1? Yup, Baby One More Time. The video is just seductive. The director for the video was Joseph Kahn, as Britney went back to old success formulas. Her alter egos have brunette, blond and black hair, just like in “Toxic”, one of her most successful videos. And like “Toxic”, Britney pushes the men around, and shows them who’s boss, bitches. Britney has seductive and erotic moves, and appears nude (near nude in “Toxic”).

And the plaudits have arrived already, with the critics screaming “Encore!” Britney’s new video turned us on, and has made us excited of what is to come: her sixth album, and her world tour that is coming up in 2009.

We can only wish Britney the best of luck and “keep it up”, with Daddy Spears being awarded full conservatorship. Britney will no longer be crazy any more, or at least we pray to the extent that she goes ballistic. Crazy Britney must be around still, but in the right sane manner, like her contagious and healthy laughter in the MTV VMA promos.

She makes us wanna scream “Gimme More”, “Encore One More Time”, and yes, oops, she did it again. Britney’s driven us crazy, fought against the music, and even been a slave 4 us. We don't care if she lipsynchs, despite all the criticism she has received in the past. She's wanted on GMA and on X-Factor. Yup, it’s Britney and she’s back, bitch. We definitely want more pieces of her.

We went S.A.M. on Monday after LeeTK's talk on photography, bought some cute keychain and 2 art pieces for myself.

Then Tuesday, we watched The Pianist. Watch before liao, so i spoiler to Han Wee. Before that YANGWZ gave talk about movies. lol.

Wednesday: Money No Enough II, so saddening lah the story, i cried like really loud ><. the loudest in a cinema/screening ever, that is. Then we went to SDC. Amazing Race. our group lost. So. I was forced to sing Womanizer. Oh well. I wanted to dance to Toxic. Then Ms Gwee's hair looked like Medusa in the wind. We went on SAFTI tour bus and watched a mini-movie, pretty cool.

Then, MP Dialogue Session. Pretty fruitful. Mrs. Teo was a really nice lady to have a dialogue session with. First OS-ship success! :D COMPLETE success, even Dr. Hon congratulated me.

Then dinner gulped down and HIC! Loved all 5 plays much. Was pretty happy with Liow's play, my 1 hour with them on Tuesday working on 2 scenes seemed to have paid off as it was delivered sweetly. Congratulations to Ms Ngo, for a successful play from 2 days ago! Bus Stop was lovely, Max the pimp. (YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN CHARMAINE'S EXPRESSIONS), Daniel Soo the sex worker, Akilan the next Samuel Lim ("Have I made myself crystal clear?"), and the two lead roles were great. Greg's play was okay, just that I felt it was a bit indirect, but the raunchiness and the witty jokes were BRILLIANT. Drama group was good too, delivered quite well, a bit soft though, but nonetheless catchy. Loved the ending a LOT, with the lightings, and Yao Nian delivered his lines like Voldemort: pacing around victim, torturing them, pale face, chilly voice, black coat, wonderful. :D Then, Samuel Lim's dance was BRILLIANT, no "cheesy oblivion" eh?

Saw Daddy, Mummy. They were sitting with Pris jie :D Mummy cut her hair short, and she freaked out abt it. heh.

Thursday/Today: NLB + Incredible Hulk

Everyone loves a good comeback, though it's ironic that commercially, Britney Spears never went anywhere. If anything, her personal troubles heightened interest in last year's "Blackout" album and top five smash "Gimme More." This year has seen a less public Spears —certainly none of the bizarre behavior of the past couple of years. "Womanizer" from new album "Circus" (Dec. 2), finds Brit in futuristic electronica mode (similar territory to peer Christina Aguilera). Credit producers/ writers the Outsyders for injecting a bit of reality into her lyrics, in this case directed at a certain ex, in which Spears chastises, "You say I'm crazy . . . I got your crazy." While the repetitive hook might affect chart longevity, the best news here is Spears' engaged vocal, unlike last year's tracks, which focused more on production tricks to cover unfocused delivery. After triple-play wins at MTV's Video Music Awards, where a coherent Spears appeared grateful and surprised —and a creative (albeit gratuitous) video that's igniting blogs—could it be our Britney is truly back? —Chris Williams

A HIT, ONE MORE TIME: For the second week in a row, the record for the biggest leap to No. 1 on The Billboard Hot 100 has been broken. Just seven days ago, I was writing about T.I. and Rihanna racing 80-1 with "Live Your Life," besting the 71-1 move of T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" six weeks earlier.

That new record set by "Live Your Life" only lasted one week, as Britney Spears' "Womanizer" (Jive) blasts 96-1, almost - but not quite - the biggest jump to pole position possible.

There are only four other positions on the chart from which an artist could make a greater bound to the top. Once a single does take the inevitable 100-1 ride, we can all be assured the record will never be broken again.

Looking at this week's Hot 100 might make you wonder if that 100-1 jump is going to happen next week. Debuting in the anchor slot is a new Beyonce single, "If I Were a Boy" (Music World/Columbia). But don't look for a new record to be set when you read the next edition of Chart Beat. "If I Were a Boy" is charting based on early airplay - that's the same way Spears' "Womanizer" entered at No. 96 last week. The difference is that a digital single of "If I Were a Boy" wasn't released this week, so there isn't going to be an injection of sales to fuel a big "Boy" move. Additional airplay will allow the Beyonce track to move up, and an eventual digital release could result in an impressive jump to first place, but not a record-setting move.

"Womanizer" puts Britney back in control of the Hot 100 for the first time in nine years and nine months, since her first chart entry, "...Baby One More Time" ruled the list. That's the longest gap between No. 1 songs since Cher's "Believe" moved into the penthouse 10 days shy of 25 years after "Dark Lady."

"Believe" began its reign in March 1999, just four weeks after "...Baby One More Time" ended its run at the top.
"Womanizer" is Spears' 18th chart entry and sixth top 10 hit. Two of her three biggest hits have occurred in the last 13 months. Here's how those half-dozen top 10 songs fared:

Finally, Spears is one of just a small group of artists who have spent time at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in the 20th and 21st centuries. The other members of this elite club are Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez, P. Diddy, Jay-Z, Usher and Mariah Carey. Justin Timberlake and Krayzie Bone have No. 1s in this century as solo artists and in the last century as members of groups - 'N Sync and Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, respectfully.

HIGHEST AND LOWEST As a lead artist, Beyonce achieves the highest and lowest debuts of her career this week, albeit on different charts. As mentioned above, "If I Were a Boy" bows at No. 100 on the Hot 100, her lowest first-week position in history. Of her 17 chart entries as a solo artist, the highest opening position was the No. 12 debut of "Ring the Alarm" in September 2006 (the highest new entry for a Destiny's Child single was the No. 30 debut of "Lose My Breath" in September 2004).

Over on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, a different Beyonce song. "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," starts at No. 20, her highest debut as a lead artist. Five months ago, "Love in This Club Part II," credited to Usher featuring Beyonce and Lil Wayne, entered at No. 14.

"If I Were a Boy" also enters the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, at No. 61. The highest new entry for Destiny's Child on this tally was the No. 20 bow of "No, No, No" in November 1997.

VOULEZ-VOUS RETOURNEZ: Yes, they want to return. The trio of divas known as Labelle has recorded its first new album since 1976, as reported by Gail Mitchell in the Oct. 18 issue of Billboard. This week, the first single, "Roll Out" (Verve), enters the Adult R&B chart at No. 37.

This is Labelle's first time on this tally, although Patti LaBelle has placed 13 titles on this chart, including the No. 1 hits "The Right Kinda Lover" (1994), "When You Talk About Love" (1997) and "Gotta Go Solo" (2005).
If "Roll Out" rolls over to the Hot 100, it will be the first Labelle single to chart since "What Can I Do for You" went to No. 48 in June 1975.

BRIGHTER LIGHTS: Jennifer Hudson's "Spotlight" (Arista) advances to No. 1 on two charts: Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. "Spotlight" is only the second song by an "Idol" finalist to reach the top rung of the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The first was Fantasia's "When I See U," which ruled for eight weeks in 2007. Fantasia was the winner of season three, the same year that Hudson was voted off in seventh place.

Thanks to her new pair of No. 1s, Hudson has a revised total of five chart-toppers on various Billboard charts, pushing her past David Cook into 11th place among the 24 "Idol" contestants who have spent time at No. 1. Here is how the revised totals look, with Hudson's two new No. 1s included:

The two new No. 1s for Hudson increases the total number of chart-toppers for the TV franchise to 207.

STILL FREEWHEELIN' AFTER ALL THESE YEARS: The times, they may be a-changin', but Bob Dylan is still relevant. His chart span on The Billboard 200 expands to 45 years, one month and three weeks, from his September 1963 debut album "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" to his latest entry, "The Bootleg Series Vol. 8: Tell Tale Signs: Rare and Unreleased 1989-2006" (Columbia/Legacy), new at No. 6.

This 2008 release is the 50th Dylan album to chart, and his 18th to reach the top 10. The last Dylan album to earn top 10 status was "Modern Times," which spent one week at No. 1 in September 2006. Of Dylan's 18 top 10 titles, 11 have charted higher than "Vol. 8" in the "Bootleg" series.

VETERANS' WEEK: Bob Dylan isn't the only artist with a career dating back to the 20th century to have a new album debut on The Billboard 200. The Pretenders, the Clash and Oasis are also back on the chain gang again.

Of the three, the Clash has the longest chart span: 29 years and eight months from the debut of "Give 'Em Enough Rope" in February 1979 to this week's No. 93 new entry of "Live at Shea Stadium" (Epic/Legacy). It's the first Clash album to chart since "The Essential Clash" peaked at No. 99 in March 2003. "Live at Shea Stadium" is the highest-charting Clash album in 22 years, since "Cut the Crap" went to No. 88 in 1986.

The Pretenders (Chrissie Hynde with a new line-up of musicians) have stretched their chart span to 28 years and nine months, from the debut of an eponymous LP in January 1980 to the No. 32 new entry of "Break Up the Concrete" (Shangri-La). It's the first Pretenders set to chart since "Loose Screw" did a turn at No. 179 in November 2002, and like the new Clash release, is the highest-charting Pretenders album in 22 years, since "Get Close" snuggled up to No. 25 in 1986.

Oasis has been charting since "Definitely Maybe" debuted in February 1995, so its chart span grows to 13 years, eight months and two weeks, thanks to the No. 5 debut of "Dig Out Your Soul" (Big Brother/Reprise). This is the first Oasis album on the band's new label, and the first to chart since a greatest hits collection went to No. 89 in December 2006. "Dig Out" is the highest-charting Clash album since "Be Here Now" peaked at No. 2 in September 1997. The only other Clash album to chart higher than "Dig Out" was "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?," No. 4 in February 1996.

SHE'S THE 'BOSSY': Lindsay Lohan's first single to chart on Hot Dance Club Play, "Bossy" (Universal Motown), becomes her first No. 1 hit on this chart. It is Lohan's second No. 1 on any Billboard singles chart; her only previous chart-topper was "Over," which spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Bubbling Under the Hot 100 survey in February-March 2005.

HERE THEY GROW AGAIN: Three weeks ago, I reported on the status of the "Mamma Mia!" soundtrack, which was then tied for seventh place among the longest-running motion picture soundtracks on the Top Soundtracks chart. That Decca release has moved up to third place:

THE SOUND OF IRELAND: Twice in my life I have lived in the United Kingdom, and during those years, it never failed to amaze me how every release by Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell would make the charts.

The same wasn't true in the United States, but that was then and this is now. O'Donnell made his first appearance on Top World Music Albums in 2003 and hasn't looked back. "At Home in Ireland" (DPTV Media) is his 28th title to appear on this chart, more than any other artist.

By soaring 8-3, "At Home in Ireland" is O'Donnell's 14th album to reach the top five, also a record. O'Donnell was previously tied with the Gipsy Kings, who slide to second place with a total of 13 top five albums.

Britney: For the Record

In an upcoming documentary, Britney Spears candidly discusses her loneliness and her regrets about her much-publicized erratic behavior.

“I sit there and I’ll look back and I’m like: I’m a smart person. What the hell was I thinking?” the pop star says in the 90-minute film, tentatively titled For the Record, produced in partnership with MTV.

In a video clip from the film, the 26-year-old Spears alludes to her tumultuous past: her divorce from Kevin Federline, forced psychiatric hospitalizations and loss of custody of her two sons.

“I’ve been through a lot in the past two or three years, and there’s a lot that people don’t know,” she says.

“Sometimes I think I get kind of lonely because you don’t open the gate up that much, you know I mean?” she adds. “You’re guarded. You have to be that way, so I’m kind of stuck in this place and it’s like: How do you deal? And you just cope, and that’s what I do. I just cope with it, every day.”

The documentary airs on MTV on Nov. 30, two days before the release of her new album, Circus.

Britney Makes One Brilliant "Womanizer"

Everyone in the pop music world laughed out loud in unison yesterday when we heard the brilliant quote from Britney Spears: "I'll sit there and I'll look back and I'm like, ‘I'm a smart person. What the hell was I thinking?'"

The name Britney Spears has never been synonymous with "smart."

There is no need for me to make any derogatory comments here, but the former child star has been criticized for her lip syncing, salacious choreography, billowing out of a bikini, and forgetting the lyrics to her song. And those references just apply to her 2007 opening VMA performance.

The media, tabloids and gossip blogs in particular, have not been her friends.

There was only one thing Britney Jean Spears could do to turn things around and she's done it.

Weeks ago Britney released a hot new single, "Womanizer," and debuted the video last night on 20/20. In three weeks, the song has reached No. 21 on the top 40 radio charts. The release of the video is going to accelerate the song's movement up the ranks.

In the clip, Brit is so proud to boast her new svelte frame that she spends part of the video sans clothes. Janet, Mariah and Rihanna have also gone au natural in music videos, but Brit pushes it further in scenes where she miraculously keeps her privates covered.

The "Womanizer" video marks the first time since her troubles with marriage, child custody and baby fat that I did not look at the former teen star as a train wreck.

The juxtaposition of the song title "Womanizer" and the video's storyline of a woman on a mission to seduce a man at every opportunity are contradictory, but Britney makes them work. It is actually quite entertaining to watch.

Desperate housewife Britney cooks breakfast in lingerie for her husband who reads the newspaper in the buff.

Businesswoman Britney breaks all the sexual harassment rules in the office by flirting with a co-worker who grabs her rear and chases her into the copy room where she proceeds to Xerox her behind.

Redheaded Hooters waitress Britney earns an excellent satisfactory rating for her prompt service and getting her customer's order right. But her client gets the big tip when she takes him into the kitchen for the dessert sampler tray.

Cabby Britney takes a detour into the back seat for one sensational Taxi Cab Confession her male patron will never forget.

Indeed, "Womanizer" is just as tacky as Britney's "Gimme More" stripper video that she released almost exactly one year ago. But "Womanizer" doesn't look like it was shot impromptu on a camcorder.

"Womanizer" was directed by veteran Joseph Kahn who also helmed her vids for "Stronger" and "Toxic," plus Pussycat Dolls' VMA winning "When I Grow Up."

Maybe Britney's smarter than we think. After catching flack for her personal problems over the past few years, including losing custody of her children, it could have been perceived as a bad idea for her to continue to portray a sex crazed vixen in her music videos. But having the right combination of a solid pop song, catchy subject and fun video storyline has made the concept much easier to digest. And moral cops can't complain about the nude scenes without first giving her props for getting back in shape.

This is a great comeback video and set up for her album Circus, due out on December 2, Brit's 27th's birthday.

I wouldn't say it's as solid as Mariah's "We Belong Together," The Emancipation Of Mimi comeback, but good enough. Good job Brit.

To be frank, 1.14 should be a very impressive score. And it is. To maintain 1.14 for 2 years isn't easy neither.

But what was disappointing that it should have been a perfect MSG. I know I should be like super pleased, like what everyone thinks. But to me, I really should have done better.

On the surface, I said I could screw one subject. And probably Literature. But that was most disappointing in my opinion. I really should have gotten my A1 in Literature. Unfortunately, 48/75 just wasn't enough.

It was my strongest subject for 1 year, plus I got recognition for it. But maybe this year it just didn't work out.

But, on anyday, I'd take my 1.14.

Okay I'm officially bored. I decided not to go keng cao's house cos too many people went, so Lao Zhang (Which Zhang?), Gordon and I zao to yuanzie's house. I lost to Gordon on Penalties only, all the other matches I owned. Then in career mode, the newb Yuan Wei's Man Utd were languishing 16th after 7 games, but in 5 - 6 games, I brought United to 3rd place. Too pro liao.

Here's a review:

1. Chinese Paper 1 - Quite fun to write. I did Si Han and Q3, more familiar.
2. History Paper - Pretty easy, but it was challenging too.
3. English Paper 1 - Did expo 5b, found the feature pretty cool ;D
4. Geography Paper - Thanks Mr. Eddie Lau for that easy paper! :D
5. Math Paper - Exempted. It was easy. Inflated marks. Mr. Lee set it. Damn. They should have tested stats and curved graphs man. But Andre got the first question on factorising wrong. HEH.
6. Science Paper - Do you get the feeling that Section A was tougher than Section B which was tougher than Section C?!
7. English Paper 2 - Thank goodness the comprehension and questions were relatively easy to understand. Unlike last year's Garden compre, and this year Term 1's Authority. URGH.
8. Literature Paper - So-so. I think I screwed up Section A, but not so bad for Section B. :)

I feel guilty though, that I have been watching YouTube videos WAYY TOO MUCH.
It's quite cute how many things are interlinked. I was watching Madonna on Letterman when she was swearing about 14 times in 1994, making it the most censored show in US Broadcasting History. Letterman was fed up, and said "Madge, people don't wanna hear stuff like that at 11.30pm in their living rooms!" (or smth along those lines.)

Britney Spears returns to the music industry as Womanizer has been released to mainstream U.S. radio. Womanizer is structurally similar to Spears's previous efforts "Toxic" and "Ooh Ooh Baby". While Britney gets back on her life, what about this new song?

Controversy struck early.

The song was released to radio stations on September 26, 2008 in the United States. The lyrics to "Womanizer" were posted on Spears' official website a day earlier A week before the official premiere, on September 19, a low quality 40-second clip from "Womanizer" was leaked via Nashville's 107.5 The River. Jive later released a statement to MTV stating that the clip was from the "rough mix" of the track, not the finalized single. The DJ who played the clip was later suspended and fined $250,000 by Jive Records.

The original release, 22nd September, was delayed, as Britney then returned to the studio, with her peeps, as they made changes to the single itself. Jive then came out to say that it wasn't Britney's vocals, they just made some changes to the tune itself.

On September 25, 2008, dancers reportedly arrived to the set of "Womanizer" dressed in waiters' uniforms comprised of white dress shirts and skinny ties, with black pants for the gentlemen and leggings for the ladies.Unidentified sources told Us Weekly that the video features "erotic" choreography — Spears, wearing black leather pants and sporting fake tattoos, lies on a kitchen counter and then proceeds to make out with a man dressed in a suit. The director is Joseph Kahn, who worked with Spears for "Toxic" and "Stronger", with part of the video being shot in the Elevate Lounge in Los Angeles. According to MTV, in the music video Spears plays a vampy waitress in a black wig.

The video as filmed on Wednesday September 24, 2008, and Thursday September 25, 2008.
The video was filmed at Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant and Elevate Lounge on the 21st floor of an office building in downtown L.A..

The video will feature plenty of "erotic" choreography. In one scene, Spears (who wears tight, black leather pants and fake tattoos on her arms in the video) lies on a kitchen counter and later straddles and makes out with a man dressed in business suit. The scene continues with Spears sucking on cherries or dangling them around her mouth, all while straddling and crawling all over the man.

The video will premiere in October, 2008.

The sounds of this song excite me, pump me up, as Britney talks about the guy she loves as a "Womanizer", someone who flirts around and puts up a false front, even going to the extent of being a "Superman" and a "Daddy-O." The lyrics are cute, Britney's (albeit computerised) vocals sound great. A wonderful single in all!

In the end, Womanizer was released on the 26th of September. The long wait is over, Britney's back.

PART 5 OF OUR BRITNEY SPECIAL - Her Best Music Videos

1. Baby One More Time: Her sexy mid-riff exposed in the music video blasted her from zero to, well, not exactly hero. But it still announced her arrival in the pop scene, with the sexy dance moves.

2. Oops I Did It Again: Outerspace seemed to fascinate Ms. Spears, and her Music Video for "Oops" showed that. Wearing a tight catsuit, Ms. Spears danced in the music video, and she seemed to steal the heart of that astronaut in that music video; along with the crew back on Earth. She, however, did steal everyone's hearts with that music video, song, and album. "Oops", her sophomore's lead single.

3. Stronger: Britney's transition from innocence to bad girl was starting to show; with her chair-dancing in this music video. Britney also danced in the rain and made herself look "wet", definitely transition in progress.

4. Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know: One of the failures of Ms. Spears' career, it did, however, fully establish her as a sex-symbol. The French model seen being intimate with Britney in the video stirred controversy; so much so that Lynne Spears requested for Jive to rethink the concept, possibly cos it upsetted Britney's then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

5. I'm A Slave 4 U: Transition complete. "Slave" was one of Britney's most risque video's EVER; as seen from the sweatiness and dirt on everyone. (Reminds you of "Dirrty" by Christina Aguilera?) It is shot at a sauna found within a run-down, futuristic city. We first find Spears out on a balcony, tempting viewers with her eyes and hands. She makes her way inside the building, while wearing her thong outside her jeans and sweating profusely, and begins a dance segment that continues in different cuts throughout the video. The next cuts show Britney staring into a mirror in a dirty bathroom as she shakes her bum, and in front of a wall of bright lights. Towards the second half of the video, Spears makes her way into a different room of the sauna and puts her hands up to one of the walls. Here, she begins dancing suggestively for the people behind her saying "I want to do what you want me to". This tempts the group of people to raise Britney up and pass her around, as if she were "crowd surfing."The ending of the video finds Spears sitting in the corner of the main room, sweating as hard as ever. Several people begin to crowd around her, and one even starts to lick the sweat off her face. Next, someone opens a lighter towards the ceiling sprinklers, but it doesn't let out any water. But then outside, rain begins to pour down from the sky, and the people are seen running out onto the balcony to get a taste right before the video ends. (Wikipedia)

6. Boys: Featuring a pop-cultural icon with Mike Myers seems pretty cool, huh? :D

7. Me Against The Music: Interesting video, it wasn't even meant to be made, this song.

Stewart and Magnet presented "Pop Culture Whore", the third song they had written and produced, to Spears, and though her management liked the track, Spears rejected it. After spending a day with Spears to "get in her world", the pair began working on a new track, with Magnet writing the lyrics and melody on a piano. The song was designed as a sort of battle between Spears and the song, what Magnet described as "trying to out-dance the track or out-beat the drum or out-pluck the guitar…as if she's…losing herself in the music."[1]

Originally, this song was not planned on being the first single from In the Zone, and when it was then decided it would be the first single, a completely different version was in mind. Jive Records was planning on releasing "Outrageous" as the lead off single. They felt that it was urban enough to become a hit across most formats, and they also had to fulfill a contract with R.Kelly who produced the song, which obligated them to release the song as a single. However, Spears felt that the song wasn't strong enough to be the first single and lobbied for 'Me Against the Music'. The original version that Spears had in mind did not include Madonna on the song. When Spears finally got her way, all was set to release the single. However, during rehearsals for the 2003 Video Music Awards in which Spears would perform with Madonna and Christina Aguilera, Spears let Madonna listen to the song to get an opinion on it. Madonna took a sample of the track from Britney and recorded her vocals over the song and some others that she herself had written and then sent it back to Britney. Britney being a big fan of Madonna was thrilled that Madonna had recorded herself on the track hence why it became the first single to be released from the In the Zone album.

Directed by Paul Hunter, the music video for "Me Against the Music" starts out with Spears driving up to a club. After entering the building, she begins a short dance scene in the entranceway; at the same time, we see several video screens about the different rooms in the club. In one room with several older men is Madonna sitting in a chair being taped by a camera. Her face appears on the video screens while Spears begins a dance in another part of the club. At this point, Madonna sees Spears and is immediately intrigued to find this girl, so she leaves the room to search for her; the same scenario occurs with Spears, as she, too, is intrigued to find out who this woman appearing on the screens is. She is dressed as a policewoman.

Throughout the video, there are cuts of Spears and Madonna in a section of the club that has wooden strips covering the walls. Madonna makes her way here and begins to look for Spears. At one point, she drops her jacket, and Spears picks it up, realizing that this is the same jacket the woman on the screen (Madonna) was wearing. Cuts of Spears dancing in a room with neon lights intrude this part of the video, as do scenes of Spears and Madonna dancing together in a filthy room on an iron bedframe.

Another part of the video has Spears and Madonna in two rooms separated by the same wall. As Spears begins a dance segment on her side of the wall, Madonna craves to get on the other side to find out who this girl is. Cuts of Madonna swinging in a courtyard with leaves on the ground are also included. The climax has Spears finally finding Madonna. She pushes her up against the wall, and moves in to kiss her; this piece is obviously a play on their now-infamous lip-lock at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. However, before Spears can reach her lips, Madonna disappears, leaving Spears very confused. About a second after she disappears, Madonna's laugh can be heard, suggesting that she may have been part of Spears' imagination or a spirit sent to tease her.

Madonna disliked the making of the music video, she did not get on well with the director Paul Hunter, who she had previously worked with on the Gap commercial with Missy Elliott. Dustin Robertson who edited this video and has done previous Madonna remix videos had this revelation about the video shoot:
“ Madonna threatened to take herself out of that video at one point! She did NOT get along with the director on that video, Paul Hunter, either. She had already worked with him on the Gap spot and had not had a good experience. I remember she called Paul to give him some specific notes on the video and I guess, from what Madonna told me right after, she asked him if he was writing down her comments and he said, "No, I'm driving." Madonna said, "F*%k you", hung up and called me right away. That was the last video I ever cut with Paul Hunter as I sided with Madge instead of him on creative issues and the direction of Madonna’s performance in the clip. I WAS TRYING TO HELP, I SWEAR. I got it to a place where Madonna was happy. I think the art direction is horrible and the wardrobe is stupid… it should have been way more modern, hipper and edgier for both Britney and Madge. It was one of the weakest videos ever, that NEEDED to be strong but just wasn't.[2] (Wiki)

8. Toxic: Her Grammy-Award winning song was infamous for the near-nudeness; it took 7 hours for Ms Spears' crew to put the diamonds on the suit. Yet, the Music Video again showed Britney's sexual side (In The Zone was arguably Britney's most sexual offering). Dry humping, kissing of strangers on aeroplanes and running into houses to kiss someone, getting ready to dry sex again, before poisoning him, and then reappearing as an innocent lady on the plane? Gosh. Madness, but it still won her a Grammy.

9. Everytime: Britney Spears isn't just about sex, as this song showed that she is human too. It is possibly to reflect her breakup with Justin Timberlake, but it was one of the best songs off In The Zone as a ballad, one of Brit's best ever. The video shows Britney under pressure from her lover and the paparazzi before eventually succumbing and fainting (due to bleeding). It showed her outtake of death and reincarnation too; pretty philosophical.

10. Outrageous: wasn't complete due to her injuring of her leg on the "Onyx Hotel Tour"

11. My Prerogative: Dancing with Hubbie Kevin and dirty in the water AGAIN, Britney? Or how about being on the bed in lingerie only? You decide.

12. Someday I Will Understand: A sweet ballad from Ms. Spears as she showed her outtake on life, once again, this time, with her pregnant with her first child. Simplistic, is the word to describe the video. :D

13. Do Something: Her first ever video directed seemed colourful and imaginative.

14. And Then We Kiss: Back to the traditional, sex-symbol Ms Spears then.

15. Gimme More: "It's Britney bitch." Gimme More was Britney's come back single after a 4 year hiatus of new material. Performance at the VMAs were poor and horrible, despite the hype, so was the MV, but it was a welcome improvement from the performance. Britney was seen pole-dancing in this video; typical Ms Spears, dancing material.

16. Piece Of Me: One of the MOST colourful videos Britney has ever shot; filmed till 6.30am in the morning. Her attitude was right, as she worked out the dance moves quite brilliantly, better than her VMAs, at least.

17. Break The Ice: Britney features in this as a super-hero in anime form! A new feature, as this is the first time Britney has done so in all her MVs. Pretty creative, and the MV shows Ms. Spears as our true hero; she is truly back. :D

18. Radar: Not released as a single, because Brit's back in studio for her 6th Album. Originally planned to be filmed in London, possibly as a continuation of her "To Be Continued" message from Break The Ice MV.
19. ALMOST featured in PCD's new video, but was later edited out by Label Execs.

part 4 - stardom and success

With all the hype around her, nothing seemed to go wrong for Ms. Spears. She featured in 2000 VMAs almost nude, 2001 with a python, 2002 like a traffic warden, and 2003 she ended up kissing Madonna on stage with a relive of Madonna's 1984 VMA performance of Like A Virgin.

She featured in the movie Crossroads (2002) and released two highly sexual and successful albums, Britney (2001) and In The Zone (2003), with a 6 month career break in 2002.

Remembering Britney (2001), and her hit single, which removed her from innocent girl-next-door to a 18 year sex-symbol, I'm A Slave 4 U. It was well-received by her critics; given that she started to take creative control of the songs on her album. She relived a performance in 2001 at the MTV VIdeo Music Awards, drawing flak for dancing with a python.

Yet, she was still a success story in the writing. ANy award show would seem empty without the presence of Ms. Spears; she was in US history already, and was the youngest awardee of a star in the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

In 2003, Britney released her most sexual offering to date, In The Zone. The album's first single was "Me Against The Music" featuring Pop Queen Madonna; and they almost re-enacted their kiss on the MTV VMA Stage of 2003 in the music video.

But Britney's most famous hit was yet to come. Her Grammy-Award winning song, Toxic, was full of sexual content (Music Video wise), and the lyrics were suggestive and provocative. It was addictive, and made by a legend, known as Ms. Britney Spears.

But there was more to come for this talented entertainer.

Her personal life was interesting too, dating fellow MMC alumni in Justin Timberlake before they broke up. It was rumoured that "Cry Me A River" and "Everytime" (Timberlake, Spears)'s songs were written about the break up, with Justin seemingly more sour.

Britney Jean Spears was in for a fantastic ride when she went to Sweden to record her debut album for release in 1999 (...Baby One More Time).

Debut single Baby One More Time was a big hit, and it immediately established Ms Spears as an "innocent-looking" sex symbol, with her cutie-pie looks.

And my my, was it a hit. It certainly propelled Ms Spears to stardom and fame; and she was invited to perform at the Grammy Awards, her hit song.

Other singles include a ballad-like Sometimes, a dance club song in Crazy, and a sweet sad song in "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart", one of her better vocal songs.

28 Million Albums were sold worldwide, this album. RIAA ranks it at #27 of the Top sold albums, and Fox News reports that it is the MOST any teenage artiste has sold ever.

With all the hype, Britney did not disappoint with her sophomore album in Oops... I Did It Again!, this time the singles were more incredulous and the videos were beautiful design-wise.

The singles, one of which which features Ms Spears in a tight red-suit (obviously the Martian-themed Oops Video), were catchy and very pop-like and danceable too. Other singles were: Lucky, where it was targeted to one Hollywood Artiste and her downfall (not her, evidently), Stronger,and one of the failures, Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know.

Stronger featured Ms Spears chair-dancing, where it changed her from goodgirl to dirty; as she was dancing in the rain and there were suggestive moves in her chair dance. The sexuality did not leave in the video for "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know", as the model and her got extremely intimate, much to the displeasure of her then-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake.

The two haven't appeared onstage together since their infamous VMA makeout session, but Brit's manager Larry Rudolph has confirmed that they'll be reuniting for Madonna's new world tour this summer!

According to Access Hollywood, Britney won't be appearing live, but on video projected during Madge's "Sticky & Sweet" tour.

"This song was inspired by Jonas Brothers' unlikely appreciation for the work of babe magnet Prince," according to the May 30, 2008 issue of Entertainment Weekly. Nick Jonas' statement about the song:

The music video for "Burnin' Up" premiered after the premiere of the Jonas Brothers' Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock on Disney Channel as well as ABC on June 21, 2008.

The video begins with a speaking scene of Kevin, Joe, and Nick sitting in beach chairs next to a pool, arguing over if a girl behind them was waving to and "checking out" Joe. Big Rob then brings over and hands each of them a treatment for their new music video. They begin to read the treatment and imagine how the video would play out.

The boys are first shown perfoming poolside along with their back-up band and people dancing around them. Nick is then shown in a short James Bond-esque mini-movie, titled "Double Inferno," which shows him driving a speedboat; catching a couple of bad guys with a net; beating another bad guy in Mahjong; and jumping through lasers to get to his girl (played by Selena Gomez).

Then, Joe, sporting a moustache, along with Big Rob, are shown in their 80's cop show themed scene, titled "Hot Tropic." They are shown driving in a speedboat, and then features Joe chasing down and catching a bad guy (played Danny Trejo), and saving a girl tied up to a chair with a bomb next to her, which Joe manages to successfully defuse.

Kevin is then shown in his scene, titled "The Burning Dragon." He is shown at a temple, practicing and learning martial arts; chopping boards in half with his hands and feet; fighting bad guys in a warehouse; and saving a tied-up girl from being hit by a bad guy throwing knives. David Carradine is shown making a guest appearance in this part as the martial arts master.

Finally, Big Rob joins the boys and begins rapping his part in the song. He is also shown with Selena Gomez, who takes his arm as they walk off together; chasing down the bad guy from his and Joe's scene; and practicing martial arts.

The video concludes with another speaking scene. Nick just responds with a "wow," Kevin thinks it sounds "dangerous," and Joe just says, "I can't grow a moustache."

With strong digital sales, "Burnin' Up" debuted on #5 at US Billboard Hot 100. It debuted in the United World Charts at #18 with 114,000 single sales, their second biggest sales debut of any music platform release worldwide, just behind the Camp Rock soundtrack. It is predicted to reach the top ten of the United World Charts within 2 to 8 weeks after its release. "Burnin' Up" influenced the sales increase of their second album Jonas Brothers to sell 64,000 more copies worldwide. Ahahaha I'm back to blog! :D

So Nadal beat Federer. and Hamilton won in Britain ):

The 5th set of the final was epic; I thought both players deserved to win,and it was just one error from Federer that made him lose the set.

I think I shall do what Shaun does, and write stories on my blog! (in case you were wondering, THAT is the new feature.)

And please, I spent the whole of June thinking through my actions of Semester One, and asking people to help me out. Well at least I know I need help, unlike you.

TERM how cute lah, didn't think of that! ><

But I enjoyed going back to school, cos staying at home isn't the best thing to do either. so we're back. no more boring holidays of staying home and doing fiendishly boring stuff, and onto highly invigorating lessons :D

Starting with Bio. oh how i was hoping we could start on this soon, and we have. :D
Sick jokes flooded the laboratory today, as everyone started laughing (minus Shi Yuan, he giggles :D) But still, it was pretty cool how everyone was so enthusiastic about something :D

Then it was History. Whole class got owned by Eugene Chua, minus 7 people. And this was what he told 2O (credit Werty)

"It seems that almost everyone has put in effort to complete most of their worksheet, unlike in another class, only 7 people did."

lo lo.

Recess Yuanzie was using a leave to hit kerry, then we tian yuan zhi bie (TIAN qin and YUAN jun), gang up on him, combine ying and yang, lo lo.

Then, Double Shieh. A lot people didn't bring textbook, so we play idiom game, lo lo, chit chat session. Math we did trigo. took me 10 minutes to exactly understand. then before that, he went thru assignment.

I feel like being a mugger this term.

Critical reception

"Give It 2 Me" has received positive critical reception. USA Today's Elysa Gardner called the song "thumping" and "breathless," naming it one of the standout tracks of the album.[7] Rolling Stone described "Give It 2 Me" as a "thumpy self-empowerment anthem."[8] About.com listed it as one of the top tracks on Hard Candy.[9] Bloomberg complimented it on its "insidious beats".[10] Slant Magazine called it "a little careerism on the dance floor".

Chart performance

"Give It 2 Me" entered the UK Singles Chart at number 73 on May 4, 2008, and climbed to number 60, due to digital download sales alone.[11] In the U.S., before its official release, it debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 57 as the Hot Shot Debut of the week. Before it was officially released in Canada, it debuted at number eight and became the Hot Shot debut of the week. This caused "Give It 2 Me" to debut at number 39 on the United World Chart, weeks before its official release. In Norway the track took the 16th spot on the singles chart on downloads alone. This was also before the official release.[12]

Music video

The music video was filmed in early April 2008 in London, and was directed by fashion photographer Tom Munro. Pharrell's part of the video was used during the performance of "Give It 2 Me" during the Hard Candy Promo Tour. The full video leaked on YouTube on May 31, 2008 but was later removed by Warner Bros. The video was officially released on Yahoo!, AOL and iTunes stores worldwide on June 4, 2008 and premiered on Channel 4 in UK on June 5, 2008. An official teaser of the video was released on June 6, 2008.[13] It also premiered on MTV's TRL on June 10, 2008.

It features Madonna singing in various back drops wearing some of the same outfits from the recent photo shoot for Elle magazine and also singing on a couch while Pharrell sings in some back drops with Madonna. Madonna also sings in a dance studio while dancing and singing in a black and white back drop. The visual theme and her style is that of classic late 60's/early 70's retro-chic exemplified with long loose curls, matte make-up and little to no make-up color except nudes, beiges and light rose. Her wardrobe plays up her toned body but alludes to it with sheer loose chiffon sleeves and mostly black or white in the various outfit changes. She sports a wide brimmed hat throughout most of the video, something she hasn't done that often in any of her others. The editing for this video ties in with the song in many areas with cuts and speeds.

The video is currently at #1 on Canadian and United Kingdom iTunes charts and #2 on the US iTunes chart.

So, what's with Radar that's so addictive?

"Radar" is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears. It was written by Karlsson, Winnberg, Henrik Jonback, Balewa Muhammad, Candice Nelson, Ezekiel "Zeke" Lewis, and Patrick Smith for Spears' fifth studio album Blackout. The song was produced by Bloodshy & Avant and The Clutch.

On June 11, 2008, Jive Records announced that the release of "Radar" as a single has been scrapped.

So as we all know, regular readers should, that Radar will no longer be released as a single off Blackout.

Structure and lyrics

The song is rhythmically and lyrically similar to Spears' Grammy Award-winning single "Toxic." Both of which incorporate influences of electropop, synthpop, and dance. In MTV's review of Blackout, "Radar" was described as

...an electro/Eurodisco approach, but keeps Spears' vocals more in the foreground. Instead of emulating a video game, she's accompanied sparingly by sonar pulses and distorted synths to keep the sound dangerous, because she's on the prowl. 'I got my eye on you.' she speaks at one point. 'And I can't let you get away.'[1]

Critical reception

The track received mostly positive reviews. Blender magazine gave the track a positive review, stating it has a hook "most pop stars would kill for."[2] Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic, an online music database, considered it "relentless," and was chosen as one of the album's highlights. [3] Website Digital Spy commented that "Radar" is a "rave-tinged electro blipathon on which Spears is vocodered to the point of sounding extraterrestrial, [4] whereas British newspaper The Guardian criticized the song, saying it was "bending over backwards to annoy the listener." [5]

Chart performance

Due to its strong digital sales,[6] "Radar" had a brief appearance on several U.S. Billboard component charts on the week the album Blackout debuted on the Billboard 200. The song peaked at number sixty-eight on the Billboard Pop 100[7] as well as on number fifty-two on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs.[6] "Radar" also charted on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart at number seven.[8]

Music video

A proposed music video for "Radar" was to be directed by Spears, as she had done for "Do Somethin'" in 2005, in which "her and her girlfriends are going to be looking all around London trying to find a boy who she met in a club. Every time they think they have him, it's someone else."[9]

Personally, I found the song very addictive. It's been heavily edited, no doubt, but very beautiful. Britney manages to separate the chorus into 2 parts (high pitched, and low pitched), and that in itself is very good for a live performance, with the lead going the higher-pitched, and the backups doing the lower pitch (or vice-versa).

The lines she spoke are very cute too, and in all, the lyrics click quite okay.

The song is given 4 out of 5 stars.
